airBaltic Summer 2027 Schedule: Every Cancelled Route From Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius

airBaltic has published its summer 2027 flight programme, and it is the smallest network the airline has flown in years. From the end of March to the end of October 2027 the carrier will serve 57 direct destinations from Riga, 13 from Tallinn and just 8 from Vilnius — down from roughly 67, 24 and 14 in summer 2026.

Across the three Baltic capitals that is a drop from about 112 nonstop routes to 78. More than 30 individual routes disappear, including every airBaltic flight to Malta, Dublin, Yerevan, Batumi, Prague and Berlin from Vilnius, and the Tallinn links to Copenhagen and Oslo.

The programme was announced on 2 September 2026. Below is the complete list of what is cancelled, what survives, which routes actually gain flights, and why the airline is shrinking.

Schedule filings also show Riga – Dubai (3 weekly) removed from the summer 2027 programme, and it does not appear on airBaltic’s published summer destination list.

Cancelled from Tallinn — 11 destinations

Tallinn is hit hardest in percentage terms: airBaltic keeps just 13 of 24 routes.

Tallinn Airport has pointed out that the cancelled routes accounted for only about 4% of the airport’s annual passengers, because most were low-frequency seasonal services.

Cancelled from Vilnius — 9 destinations

Two more Lithuanian routes go as well: Kaunas – Riga ends, and Palanga – Tenerife is discontinued. Counting all three Lithuanian airports, airBaltic goes from 22 routes to 10.

Which Routes Get More Flights

This is the other half of the story, and it is easy to miss. airBaltic is cutting breadth and buying depth: seat capacity falls only about 9.4% while route count falls roughly 30%, because the surviving routes get more departures.

For anyone flying Riga on business, this is genuinely better: two daily London flights and 12 weekly to Paris and Vienna mean same-day returns that were not possible before.

Why airBaltic Is Cutting So Many Routes

This is not a routine schedule tweak. It is the first full summer built on airBaltic’s revised business plan, published on 11 August 2026 under chief executive Erno Hildén, who arrived from Finnair and SAS and replaced long-serving CEO Martin Gauss.

The headline change: airBaltic has abandoned its ambition of a fleet approaching 100 aircraft. Instead the Airbus A220-300 fleet goes from 54 aircraft down to roughly 36 by the end of 2026, rebuilding only slowly to about 40 by 2030–2031. Management now describes the priority as financial stability first and growth second.

Four pressures drove it:

• Pratt & Whitney GTF engine problems. The A220 flies exclusively on the GTF, and the worldwide inspection and repair programme has grounded aircraft across the fleet. Engine availability, not demand, has been capping how much airBaltic can fly.
• Costs and softer demand. Operating costs rose faster than fares on thin regional routes.
• Geopolitics. The wars in Ukraine and the Middle East continue to distort Baltic and eastern-European traffic flows.
• The balance sheet. airBaltic is seeking €225 million in interim financing and has proposed a recapitalisation combining new debt, fresh equity and a partial conversion of bonds into shares. Bondholders backed the restructuring in a vote on 17 August 2026. The planned IPO has been shelved.

The airline is roughly 88% owned by the Latvian state, with Lufthansa Group holding about 10%. Under the plan, revenue falls from around €900 million to about €800 million while earnings are forecast to improve, as ACMI and wet-lease flying is expanded to raise aircraft utilisation and cut exposure to seasonal demand swings.

Mantas Vrubliauskas, airBaltic’s VP Network Management, framed the schedule this way: “With our summer 2027 programme, we continue to provide direct and convenient connectivity from all three Baltic capitals. Our network is designed around the travel needs of our passengers and the markets we serve.”

What It Means If You Are Booking Summer 2027

• Riga becomes even more of a hub. Many cancelled Tallinn and Vilnius routes are still reachable — just with a connection in Riga instead of a nonstop. airBaltic says it has rebuilt Riga connection times to make transfers work better.
• The genuinely lost destinations are few. Malta, Olbia, Aberdeen, Batumi, Yerevan and Dublin lose their airBaltic link entirely. Almost everything else survives somewhere in the network.
• Vilnius travellers lose the most useful nonstops. Berlin and Prague are the painful ones: both are frequent-demand city pairs with no obvious like-for-like direct replacement on airBaltic.
• Charter and low-cost carriers will fill part of the gap. Sun destinations such as Mallorca, Heraklion and Antalya are heavily served by charter operators from all three Baltic capitals, and Ryanair and Wizz Air continue expanding at Riga and Vilnius.
• Schedules can still change. These are filed plans more than six months before the season starts. Frequencies get trimmed or added as bookings come in, so confirm before you build a trip around a single weekly flight.

On the routes airBaltic keeps, more frequencies usually mean more seats and more fare buckets, so pricing should stay competitive. On cancelled nonstops the risk is higher, because you either connect through Riga or switch to whichever carrier still flies the route directly.
