Citizens of 41 countries coming to Egypt can now apply for an online visa with no need for embassy visits. Egypt officialy launched online visa services at the Cairo ICT Expo.

According to their website, the visa is for a single entry and is valid for maximum 30 days. All the travellers coming to Egypt for tourism, business or transit purposes must obtain the visa.

The visa costs $25. The only thing you need is the passport which will be valid for 8 months at the end of the stay.

Prior to this decision, the citizens of those 41 countries could obtain the visa on-arrival or at any port of entry in Egypt. Now they can only apply for the visa online.

The Government of Egypt is planning to constantly update the list, so you should check it out again before visiting the country. Maybe your homecountry will be added to the list as well. But if it is not, that does not mean you cannot visit Egypt. You just have to obtain the visa in traditional way.
