RYANAIR launches 16 New Routes from Dubrovnik, Croatia

Ryanair, Europe’s and Croatia’s biggest and fastest-growing airline, today (Wed 29th November) announced its new base at Dubrovnik Airport from April ‘24, basing 2 “Gamechanger” Boeing 8-200 aircraft (a $200m investment), creating up to 500 local jobs (including 60 high-paid jobs for pilots and cabin crew).

Dubrovnik becomes Ryanair’s third Croatian base in addition to the long-standing Zadar base and recently-opened Zagreb base, further increasing Ryanair’s presence in Croatia with 18 exciting Dubrovnik routes for Summer ‘24, including 16 new routes to major cities such as Berlin, Brussels, Helsinki, London, Milan, Paris, Rome, Stockholm, and Wroclaw, as well as increased frequencies on the popular Dublin and Vienna routes.

Ryanair’s Summer ‘24 Dubrovnik schedule will deliver:

  • 2 based “Gamechanger” Boeing 8-200 aircraft (a $200m investment in Dubrovnik), which offer +4% more capacity, while burning -16% less fuel and reducing noise emissions by -40%
  • 18 routes, incl. 16 new – Berlin, Brussels, Helsinki, London, Milan, Paris, Rome, Stockholm & Wroclaw
  • Increased frequencies on existing Dublin & Vienna routes
  • Year-round operations to Dubrovnik
  • Over 600K passengers within the first 12 months
  • Over 500 new local jobs (incl. 60 high-paid pilot and cabin crew jobs)

Ryanair, Croatia’s largest airline, has delivered low fares, connectivity, and tourism to Croatia for over 15 years and has single-handedly driven Croatia’s post-Covid traffic recovery. Since the pandemic, Ryanair has invested over $800m in Croatia, with the opening of its new Dubrovnik (2 aircraft) base and 3 aircraft bases at both Zagreb and Zadar. Ryanair also offers flights to 4 other Croatian airports – Osijek, Pula, Rijeka and Split. With the addition of Ryanair’s new base in Dubrovnik from April ‘24, Ryanair will continue to deliver Europe’s lowest fares and greater connectivity for Croatian citizens and visitors through environmentally friendly “Gamechanger” Boeing 8-200 aircraft, which offer +4% more capacity, while burning -16% less fuel and reducing noise emissions by -40% – driving valuable inbound tourism and business opportunities to the picturesque coastal city of Dubrovnik.

Ryanair is the only major European airline to significantly grow traffic post-Covid, particularly in Croatia, where Ryanair will grow traffic to c. 4M annual passengers (a +450% increase in traffic vs. pre-Covid), in line with its plans to grow to 300m passengers p.a. by 2034 as Ryanair takes delivery of a further 400 aircraft (incl. 300 Boeing MAX-10 aircraft).

To celebrate the launch of Ryanair’s new Summer ‘24 base at Dubrovnik, the airline is offering fares from €29.99 one way, available to book only on Ryanair’s app/website.

Speaking from Dubrovnik, Ryanair’s Chief Commercial Officer, Jason McGuinness said:

“As Europe’s and Croatia’s largest and fastest-growing airline, Ryanair is delighted to announce our new Summer ‘24 base at Dubrovnik (with 2 “Gamechanger” Boeing 8-200 aircraft), complementing our existing Zagreb and Zadar bases. This represents a further $200m investment ($800m total across 3 bases) in Croatia, creating over 60 high-paid jobs for pilots and cabin crew while also supporting over 500 local jobs in Dubrovnik through our delivery of year-round tourism and connectivity.

Ryanair’s “Gamechanger” Boeing 8-200 base in Dubrovnik will significantly boost Croatia’s connectivity in an environmentally sustainable manner, expanding our current 2 route offering to/from Dubrovnik to 18 routes, including exciting new connections to some of Europe’s largest cities like Berlin, Brussels, Helsinki, London, Milan, Paris, Rome, Stockholm, and Wroclaw.

As the fastest-growing airline in Europe and Croatia, underpinned by our ground-breaking 300 Boeing MAX-10 aircraft order, Ryanair is best positioned to support Croatia’s post-Covid recovery and growth, delivering Europe’s lowest fares and unbeatable choice to our Croatian citizens and visitors from Summer ‘24.”

Dubrovnik Airport’s Chief Executive Officer, Viktor Šober said:

“We are delighted to announce that Ryanair will open its new base at Ruđer Bošković Airport with the initial plan of basing two of its aircraft, which will start operating at the beginning of April 2024. Ryanair will connect Ruđer Bošković Airport with 18 European destinations during Summer ‘24 and with 3 destinations in Winter ‘24/25.

This partnership between Ryanair and Ruđer Bošković Airport will result in better connectivity, more flights in the Summer season, and much-desired Winter routes, connecting Dubrovnik with European destinations. With this partnership, Ruđer Bošković Airport will be better connected than ever, and it will further develop Dubrovnik as a tourist and city break destination.”
