Wizz Air Goes Big on Egypt: 10 New Direct Routes from Poland to Hurghada, Marsa Alam & Sharm El Sheikh

Polish travellers have been asking for this for years – and it is finally happening. Wizz Air is launching its first-ever scheduled direct flights from Poland to Egypt: 10 new year-round routes from five Polish airports to the Red Sea resorts of Hurghada, Marsa Alam and Sharm El Sheikh, starting at the end of October. One-way fares will start from just PLN 259 (about €60). Here is the full route list and what it means for your winter-sun plans.

Why this is a big deal

Egypt is one of Poland’s favourite holiday destinations – more than one million Poles visited the country last year alone. Yet independent travel has never been convenient: apart from LOT’s scheduled Cairo service, the market has been dominated by charter airlines and package operators. Anyone wanting to explore Egypt on their own terms faced complicated connections. That changes now, with regular low-cost scheduled service – bookable one-way, no package required.

Warsaw Modlin Hurghada 25 October Tue, Thu, Sat

Two details stand out. First, fares will start from PLN 259 one-way (roughly €60). Second – and perhaps most interesting – all Egypt routes are planned as year-round services, not just seasonal winter flights. The routes have not yet appeared in Wizz Air’s booking system, but the airline has confirmed the schedule, so keep checking.

Wizz Air has been testing the waters in Egypt

These are Wizz Air’s first scheduled Poland-Egypt services, but not its first Egypt flights: the airline has been flying charters for tour operators for months – from Katowice to Marsa Alam since last winter, and from Kraków to Marsa Alam since 29 April. The move to scheduled service is part of a much bigger push: Wizz Air plans to grow its Egypt traffic by 300%, from about 1 million to 4 million passengers a year by the end of 2027, tripling weekly flights from 80 to 240 across destinations including Cairo (Sphinx), Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, Marsa Alam and Borg El Arab (Alexandria).

Where to go: Hurghada vs Sharm vs Marsa Alam

  • Hurghada – the classic Red Sea resort hub with the widest hotel choice; see current direct flights to Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh.
  • Sharm El Sheikh – Sinai-side sun and world-class reefs; fares can drop as low as these cheap Sharm El Sheikh deals.
  • Marsa Alam – quieter beaches, superb snorkelling and dugong-spotting; Poles already know it from charters, and deals like these Katowice/Poznan/Warsaw flights to Marsa Alam show how cheap it can get. You can even pair a beach week with a Red Sea cruise from Safaga.
