LOT is launching the first non-stop flights between Poland and Penang. The Polish airline will fly a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner from Warsaw Chopin Airport to Penang, Malaysia, once a week this winter. The first flight leaves Warsaw on Wednesday 4 November 2026, and the last return lands in Warsaw on 25 March 2027. The non-stop flight takes about 10 hours 40 minutes, and flight-only seats are on sale from 1,960 PLN (about €447) one way.

The flights are charters run with the Polish tour operator Rainbow, which sells package holidays and also seats without a hotel. Below you will find the full schedule, every departure date with its price, what the packages cost, how to book from outside Poland, and whether the charter beats a regular connecting flight.

LOT Warsaw–Penang flight schedule

Flight Day Departs Arrives Flight time
LO6519 Wednesday Warsaw (WAW) 15:35 Penang (PEN) 09:15, Thursday 10 h 40 min
LO6520 Thursday Penang (PEN) 11:15 Warsaw (WAW) 16:45, same day 12 h 30 min

All times are local. Malaysia is seven hours ahead of Poland for the whole season (UTC+8 against UTC+1). Rainbow’s booking page shows the Warsaw departure at 15:35, while the schedule reported by AeroRoutes says 15:40. Your ticket will show the final time.

The aircraft lands in Penang on Thursday morning and heads back two hours later. Each weekly rotation flies one group out on Wednesday and brings the previous week’s group home on Thursday, so holidays last 7 nights (9 days) or 14 nights (16 days). Rainbow currently lists 20 Wednesday departures from Warsaw, from 4 November 2026 to 17 March 2027, with the last return on 25 March 2027. Penang’s state government counts 19 flights, each carrying 250 to 300 passengers.

That is less than the cheapest flight-only round trip at 4,899 PLN. If you need a hotel anyway, price the package first.

Where to book the Warsaw–Penang flights

✈️ Book now →

Flight-only seats are sold on Rainbow’s charter tickets page for Penang, and packages on Rainbow’s Penang holidays page. Rainbow’s travel agencies across Poland sell the same trips.

  • The site is in Polish and prices are in złoty. Your browser’s translate button handles the booking form. Pay with a card that doesn’t add a foreign-currency fee.
  • A passport is required. Rainbow asks for passport details for every traveller; an ID card is not enough for Malaysia.
  • Bags and meal are included: 20 kg in the hold and 5 kg in the cabin.
  • Book one way if you like. Each direction is priced separately, so you can fly out on the charter and come back another way.

Charter or connecting flight: which is better?

Until now, flying from Poland to Penang meant one or two changes, usually in the Gulf, Istanbul or China, and then often again in Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. Expect a journey of 15 hours or more. Here is how the options compare.

LOT charter Regular flights with a change
Travel time 10 h 40 min non-stop Usually 15 hours or more, with one or two changes
Price From 4,899 PLN (≈ €1,117) return Warsaw–Kuala Lumpur often €600–700 return, plus a domestic hop to Penang
Dates Out on Wednesday, back on Thursday, November to March only Any day, any trip length, all year
Baggage 20 kg checked + 5 kg cabin included Depends on the fare
Lands in Penang directly Usually Kuala Lumpur or Singapore first

Our take: the charter wins on time and comfort, while regular flights win on price and flexibility. Our Flight Deals Radar has recently shown Warsaw–Kuala Lumpur from around €620–660 return with one stop. We have also posted Warsaw–Malaysia deals from €583 return. For a 7-night beach holiday, the Rainbow package is often the best value of all, because it costs about the same as the charter flights alone.

Both options carry EU passenger rights. The outbound leaves an EU airport and LOT is an EU airline, so Regulation 261/2004 covers delays and cancellations in both directions. A package also gets Package Travel Directive protection, including cover if the tour operator goes bust. A flight-only seat does not. Read our guide to the new EU air passenger rights from 2027 for what changes next year.

Flying from the Baltics, Scandinavia or elsewhere in Europe

The charter only flies from Warsaw, but getting there is easy. LOT flies to Warsaw from Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn every day, and from dozens of other European cities.

  • Your charter ticket is separate from your flight to Warsaw. If the feeder flight is late, the charter won’t wait and nobody owes you a new seat. Fly in the evening before, or take a morning flight that leaves several hours of buffer before the 15:35 departure.
  • Book flights to Warsaw Chopin (WAW), not Warsaw Modlin (WMI), which is about 40 km north of the city.
  • On the way back you land at 16:45 on a Thursday. Book an evening connection with plenty of margin, or stay one night in Warsaw.

If the charter dates don’t suit you, look at our regular deals from the Baltics to Malaysia, Riga to Kuala Lumpur and Vilnius to Kuala Lumpur. From London there are full-service flights to Penang with one change. If you want another non-stop long-haul flight to Malaysia, AirAsia X flies non-stop between Istanbul and Kuala Lumpur, and our radar currently shows Istanbul–Kuala Lumpur from about €340 return.

When to go: Penang weather from November to March

Bar chart of average monthly rainfall at Penang International Airport, 1991 to 2020: January 80 mm, February 86 mm, March 146 mm, November 233 mm and December 117 mm in the LOT season, against 316 mm in September and 337 mm in October

Penang is hot all year, with daytime highs of 31–33 °C and nights around 24–25 °C. What changes is the rain. The LOT season starts at the end of the wet season and runs through the driest months:

  • November: still wet, with 233 mm over about 16 rainy days on average. Showers tend to be short and heavy, and fares are lowest.
  • December: rainfall halves to 117 mm over about 11 days. Christmas departures are the most expensive.
  • January and February: the driest and sunniest months, with 80–86 mm over 6–7 rainy days and about 190–200 hours of sunshine a month. This is the best weather on the route.
  • March: the hottest month (average high 32.6 °C), with rain picking up again to 146 mm.

Best time to fly: mid-December to February for the weather, early November for the price.

What to do in Penang

Penang is one of the few places in Asia where you can split a week between a historic city and a beach without long transfers.

  • George Town: a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008, together with Melaka. Walk the shophouse streets, the Chinese clan houses and the famous street art around Armenian Street.
  • Street food: Penang is widely seen as Malaysia’s food capital. Try char kway teow, assam laksa and nasi kandar at the hawker centres.
  • Penang Hill: take the funicular to the 833 m summit for the view over George Town and the Penang Bridge.
  • Kek Lok Si: a huge hillside Buddhist temple complex at Air Itam.
  • Beaches and jungle: Batu Ferringhi for resort beaches, and Penang National Park at Teluk Bahang for rainforest trails to quiet coves.
  • Further afield: Langkawi is a short flight or ferry ride away, and the electric train from Butterworth reaches Kuala Lumpur in about four hours.

Why LOT is flying to Penang

The route is a charter programme commissioned by Rainbow, which has used LOT’s Dreamliners for long-haul holidays for several seasons. Penang is LOT’s second destination in Malaysia: its winter charters to Langkawi, flown for the tour operator Itaka, return on 23 December 2026.

For Penang, it is the first winter charter from Poland and a test of the European market. The state’s tourism committee chairman, Wong Hon Wai, called it “a positive exploration by Penang’s tourism industry to further develop long-haul markets in Europe”, and said it could lay the groundwork for a permanent air link with Europe.
