According to the World Tourism Organization, Chinese travellers are the biggest spenders when it comes to travelling. They have been also nominated the most travelling nation for a few years in a row now. According to the data, in 2016 they spent 261 billion USD as they were travelling abroad.

Americans came second and they were followed by Germans, Brits and French.

The countries that benefited the most from the growth of Chinese tourists’ spending mostly were their neighbours in East and South-East Asia, for example Thailand, Japan, South Korea. The Chinese tourists usually pick up these destinations for short few days trips.

The United States, Europe and Russia have also seen a considerable increase of tourists from Chine which they pick for longer travels which are a few weeks and more.

In total, 135 million of people travelled abroad in 2016 which is 6% more than in 2015.
