Direct flights from Poland to Egypt now run all year: in the last week of October 2026, Wizz Air started 10 scheduled routes from Warsaw Modlin, Katowice, Kraków, Gdańsk and Wrocław to Hurghada, Marsa Alam and Sharm El Sheikh. We checked Wizz Air’s own booking calendar on 27 October: one-way seats start at 349 zł (€79), a week in the sun costs from 818 zł (€186) return, and the airline is already flying more often than it announced.

Until now, most Poles reached the Red Sea on charter flights sold inside package holidays. These are ordinary low-cost flights you can book one way, for any number of nights. Wizz Air’s chief commercial officer Ian Malin said tickets “are selling really well”.

Which airlines fly direct from Poland to Egypt?

For the Red Sea resorts, Wizz Air is the only airline selling scheduled nonstop flights from Poland. On all 10 routes, Google Flights showed no other nonstop option when we searched for mid-November.

Charter airlines also fly from Polish airports to Hurghada, Marsa Alam and Sharm El Sheikh, but their seats are sold mostly inside tour operators’ packages. Now and then spare charter seats go on sale on their own, like these last-minute flights from Katowice, Poznań and Warsaw to Marsa Alam.

For Cairo, LOT has nonstop flights from Warsaw Chopin. From there, EgyptAir connects to the coast, but it is a long day: the best LOT and EgyptAir combination to Hurghada took 12 hours 20 minutes.

Wizz Air first announced the routes on 1 July 2026, as we reported when Wizz Air revealed its 10 new routes from Poland to Egypt. This article looks at what actually went on sale.

Wizz Air is flying more often than it promised

In July Wizz Air announced 27 flights a week: 11 to Marsa Alam, 9 to Hurghada and 7 to Sharm El Sheikh. Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities gave the same figure.

The calendar now shows 33 flights a week in mid-November, 35 in mid-December and 41 in the first week of February. Katowice–Sharm El Sheikh grew the most, from 2 planned flights a week to 4 in November and 6 in February. Gdańsk–Sharm El Sheikh, Gdańsk–Marsa Alam, Katowice–Hurghada and Wrocław–Hurghada each gained a day.

Bar chart of Wizz Air flights per week on its 10 Poland–Egypt routes: 33 in the week of 9 November 2026 and 41 in the week of 1 February 2027, against 27 announced in July; Katowice–Sharm El Sheikh rises from 2 planned to 4 and then 6 a week.

In the weeks we counted, only Kraków–Marsa Alam and Katowice–Marsa Alam kept exactly the planned number of flights. The three Warsaw Modlin routes match the plan in November and add flights in February, when Polish families travel in the winter school holidays.

How much do Wizz Air flights from Poland to Egypt cost?

In the 536 days of fares we checked (both directions, late October to late February), the lowest was 349 zł (€79), Wrocław–Hurghada on Monday 14 December. Our July report quoted launch fares from 259 zł; on 27 October we found nothing that cheap.

Cheap seats are not rare, but they are not the norm either:

  • 66 days (12%) had a fare of 409 zł (€93) or less.
  • The median day cost 659 zł (€150) one way.
  • 103 days (19%) cost 1,000 zł or more, and 47 cost 2,059 zł or more.
  • The dearest was 4,569 zł (€1,038): Gdańsk–Marsa Alam on 18 December, and Marsa Alam–Gdańsk on 25 December and 12 February.
Dot chart of every daily lowest Wizz Air one-way fare from Poland to Egypt we checked for winter 2026/27: most fares sit between 349 and 900 zł, medians around 500 to 650 zł, while Marsa Alam routes from Gdańsk, Katowice and Warsaw Modlin reach 2,059 zł and Gdańsk–Marsa Alam 4,569 zł.

When are Wizz Air flights to Egypt cheapest?

Three patterns stood out in the calendar:

  • Mid-December is the cheapest week. Flights from Poland between 11 and 17 December had a median of 389 zł, against 459 zł in November and 819 zł between 18 December and 6 January.
  • Thursdays are cheapest, Fridays dearest. Thursday departures had a median of 499 zł, Friday departures 799 zł.
  • Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh are cheaper than Marsa Alam. The median day cost 659 zł to Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh, and 869 zł to Marsa Alam.

Why do some dates cost more than 2,000 zł?

Because the cheaper fares on those flights have sold out. Wizz Air sells each flight in fare steps with a limited number of seats each, and the last seats are the dearest. Of the 47 fare days at 2,059 zł or more, 42 were on Marsa Alam routes and none on Hurghada; Hurghada never went above 1,559 zł.

They cluster in two periods: Christmas and New Year, and the winter school holidays (ferie zimowe). In 2027 Silesia and Lower Silesia have their break on 18–31 January, Masovia and Pomerania on 1–14 February, and Lesser Poland on 15–28 February. On the Gdańsk routes, most of the 2,059 zł days fall between 29 January and 26 February, around Pomerania’s break.

If your break is fixed, the Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada routes are the safer bet. Gdańsk–Sharm El Sheikh still had an 818 zł return for 11–18 February, and Katowice–Sharm El Sheikh 1,028 zł for 9–17 February.

How long is the flight from Poland to Egypt?

Wizz Air’s nonstop flights take 4 hours 10 minutes to 5 hours 5 minutes, depending on the route. Katowice–Sharm El Sheikh is the shortest at 2,824 km, Gdańsk–Marsa Alam the longest at 3,459 km. Egypt is one hour ahead of Poland, so a 14:35 departure from Katowice lands in Sharm El Sheikh at 19:45 local time.

Without Wizz Air you need at least one change. On most routes the cheapest alternatives took 14 to 24 hours and cost three to eleven times the Wizz Air fare. The table compares Wizz Air’s flight time with the cheapest other option Google Flights found for the same week in November.

Google Flights one-way searches for 10–16 November 2026, run on 27 October. On the same days Google Flights showed the Wizz Air seats at €93 to €125.

The gap is huge. From Katowice the next-cheapest way to Sharm El Sheikh cost €1,265 with three changes, more than ten times the Wizz Air fare.

Hurghada, Marsa Alam or Sharm El Sheikh: which should you fly to?

All three are on the Red Sea, with warm winters and reefs close to shore. They differ in size, in how far the airport is from your hotel and in the visa you need.

Hurghada: the most choice

Hurghada is Egypt’s largest Red Sea resort, with the widest choice of hotels, restaurants and boat trips to the offshore islands. It has three routes from Poland and fares that never reached 1,600 zł in our check. In January expect about 22 °C by day and 12 °C at night.

Marsa Alam: quieter, with turtles

Marsa Alam is smaller and calmer, with resorts spread along the coast. Snorkellers come for the reefs and the green turtles of Abu Dabbab bay, and with luck you may see a dugong. Marsa Alam International Airport lies about 60 km north of the town, so check how far your hotel is before you book.

Poland has more Wizz Air routes to Marsa Alam (four) than any other country. It is also the route where cheap seats vanish first in the holidays.

Sharm El Sheikh: reefs and the free Sinai stamp

Sharm El Sheikh, at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, has some of the Red Sea’s best reefs, including Ras Mohammed National Park. It is Wizz Air’s best-connected Egyptian airport, with routes from 14 European airports. Short beach holidays here need no paid visa, as explained below.

If you want to combine the beach with the pyramids or the new Grand Egyptian Museum, plan a separate domestic flight or a long transfer to Cairo. For more ideas, see our list of the best places to visit in Egypt.

Do Poles need a visa for Egypt?

Yes, for most trips. You need a passport valid for at least six months after arrival, with one blank page, plus a tourist visa. EU citizens, Poles included, have two options:

  • Visa on arrival: US$30, cash only, from the bank kiosks before passport control. It is valid for 30 days.
  • E-visa: apply in advance on Egypt’s official portal, visa2egypt.gov.eg. It saves queuing on arrival.

Sharm El Sheikh is the exception. If you stay less than 15 days in Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba or Taba, you get a free “Sinai only” entry stamp at Sharm El Sheikh airport. If you leave those resorts, for example on a trip to Cairo, you need the full visa.

The fees and the Sinai rule are as listed on the UK government’s Egypt entry page. Ignore agents who offer the visa on arrival for more than US$30. Visa fees change, so check again shortly before you fly.

What’s included in a Wizz Air ticket to Egypt?

All fares in this article are Wizz Air’s basic fare. It includes one small bag that fits under the seat, up to 40 × 30 × 20 cm.

A cabin trolley up to 55 × 40 × 23 cm needs WIZZ Priority, and checked bags of 10, 20 or 32 kg cost extra. Bags are cheaper when bought online with the ticket than at the airport.

Airport check-in closes 40 minutes before departure. For a week in the sun most people need at least a cabin trolley, so add its price before you compare with a package holiday.

Wizz Air is an EU airline, so EU passenger rights cover both the outbound and the return flight. For flights of 1,500–3,500 km, which includes all 10 routes, a delay of three hours or more at arrival or a late cancellation can mean €400 compensation per passenger, unless it was caused by extraordinary circumstances. Read what to do when a Wizz Air flight is cancelled.

From 23 October 2027 the new EU air passenger rules keep the same compensation and make an under-seat personal item free by law. A cabin trolley stays an extra, so Wizz Air can keep charging for it.

Why is Wizz Air betting on Egypt from Poland?

On 27 October Wizz Air’s route map showed 36 direct routes to Egypt: 14 to Sharm El Sheikh, 10 to Hurghada, 7 to Marsa Alam, 4 to Cairo’s Sphinx airport and 1 to Alexandria. Poland, with 10 routes, is its second-biggest market for Egypt after Italy.

Bar chart of Wizz Air direct routes to Egypt by country of departure on 27 October 2026: Italy 14, Poland 10, UK 5, Hungary 4, Bulgaria 2, Slovakia 1.

The demand is there. The head of the Egyptian Tourism Authority expected more than 1.1 million Polish visitors in 2025, a first. Wizz Air, for its part, wants to grow its Egypt traffic from about 1 million passengers in 2025 to 4 million by the end of 2027, and its weekly flights from 80 to 240, according to its sales agent in Egypt.

Poland has been a focus for Wizz Air for a while; it added around 40 new Polish routes for winter 2025/26 and summer 2026. Malin told Fly4free.pl that Egypt is good value, works all year, and that Wizz Air wants to give Poles a choice beyond package holidays.

Will Wizz Air add more flights from Poland to Egypt?

Probably, but not soon. Malin said Wizz Air is interested in all of Egypt’s main resort airports except Cairo, including Marsa Matruh on the Mediterranean coast, which is growing in popularity with Poles. Before adding anything, Wizz Air wants the new routes to settle, and any new route needs approval from regulators in both countries.

Wizz Air already flies to Cairo’s Sphinx airport near the pyramids, but only from Budapest, Rome, Milan and London Luton. It has no Polish route there yet.

How we checked the routes and fares

On 27 October 2026 we read Wizz Air’s booking calendar on wizzair.com for all 10 routes in both directions. For each flight day it shows the lowest fare on sale, for one adult with the free under-seat bag.

We read three blocks, late October to late November, mid-December to mid-January, and late January to late February, which gave 536 days of fares. We also checked June 2027 on two routes to confirm the flights carry on through the summer.

We counted flights a week from the same calendar and checked the routes against Wizz Air’s route map. Flight times and alternative connections come from one-way Google Flights searches for 10–16 November.

Złoty are converted at the European Central Bank rate of 26 October 2026 (€1 = 4.4038 zł). The July plan comes from Wizz Air’s announcement as reported by Pasazer.com.
