Johannesburg

It is the largest city in South Africa and the provincial capital of Gauteng. It is also one of the 50 largest metropolitan areas in the world. The city was founded in 1886 during the Witwatersrand Gold Rush, and it quickly grew into a major centre of the gold mining industry. Today, Johannesburg is a cosmopolitan city with a diverse population and a thriving economy.
