Poland reopened borders for all EU countries

Saturday, June 13th, 2020 Poland opened borders with the EU countries, lifted restrictions, mandatory quarantine, and border controls for nationals of the European Union, EFTA, EOG, and Switzerland,  who are free to travel and transit through Poland. As of Tuesday, June 16th, 2020 restrictions on international flights within the EU will be lifted. Currently, there is no news regarding travel from non-EU countries as the exterior EU borders remain closed. As of Tuesday, June 16th, 2020 restrictions on international flights within the EU will be lifted, The Polish Tourism Organization stated.

“We decided to open borders. From June 13, the borders will be open to European Union countries. We are currently limiting the decision to European Union Countries. We need contacts with these countries as soon as possible- so they can return to their previous state,” Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki pointed out in, the statement notes. The decision has been taken upon the recommendation of the European Commission that the internal border controls in the European Union be lifted on June 15, 2020, Schengen Visa Info wrote.

When the border was closed in mid-March, commuters were prevented from working, but later an exception was made for them. Poland’s border with Lithuania was already opened on Friday. The Czech and Slovak borders had to wait until Saturday. But the non-EU borders with Ukraine, Belarus and the Russian exclave Kaliningrad are still closed. Workers and visitors from those countries face 14 days of quarantine once they arrive in Poland, Euronews wrote.

Restrictions inside the country have been lifting gradually and travel to cities, national parks and beaches is permitted. Hotels are reopening as well as shops, restaurants, bars, museums and galleries, according to Forbes.
