Lithuania abolishes testing & quarantine requirements for travelers from 13 EU countries and islands
The Lithuanian authorities have removed 13 European countries and seven islands from the list of COVID-19 highly affected countries and have placed them on the green list as the Coronavirus situation in these countries and islands has greatly improved during the past weeks.
Such a decision was taken in line with the figures provided by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), Schengen Visa Info reports.
Consequently, this means that all persons arriving from one of the following countries and islands are no longer subject to testing and quarantine requirements:
- Greece: Thasos, Crete, Corfu, Kefalonia, Rhodes, Santorini, Zakynthos,
- Spain: Mallorca
As stated in the press release issued by the Ministry of Health of Lithuania, the exemption from the testing and quarantine requirements applies to all persons who have been vaccinated against the COVID-19, provided that 14 days have passed since the last dose of the vaccine was administered. In addition, the exemption also applies to those who have recovered from the disease.
Following the update of the COVID-19 affected countries list, the same Ministry announced that the Netherlands and Sweden had been moved from the red and grey category to the yellow one.
As a result, all arrivals from the Netherlands and Sweden, or any other country that is already included in the yellow category, are permitted entry into the territory of Lithuania by only presenting a negative COVID-19 test result. Exempt from the testing requirement are children under 16, according to Schengen Visa Info.
