Air Traffic Increased by 41.3% in November Last Year Compared to 2021

Data provided by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have revealed that the total traffic in November last year increased by 41.3% compared to the same period in 2021.

Such data also show that globally, traffic is now at 75.3% of pre-pandemic November levels, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

As for international traffic, it also saw an increase of 85.2% compared to November 2021.

According to IATA, the most robust year-on-year results continued to be reported by Asia-Pacific, with all regions showing improvement compared to last year. In addition, in November 2022, international RPKs reached 73.7% of November 2019 levels.

In November last year, domestic traffic also saw an increase of 3.4% compared to November 2021. Meanwhile, the total domestic traffic of November 2022 was 77.7%, reaching the level of November 2019.

“Traffic results in November reinforce that consumers thoroughly enjoy the freedom to travel. Unfortunately, the reactions to China’s reopening of international travel in January remind us that many governments are still playing science politics regarding COVID-19 and travel,” IATA’s Director General Willie Walsh pointed out in this regard.

Further, IATA data shows that Asia-Pacific airlines saw a 373.9% increase in traffic in November 2022 compared to November 2021, which was the region’s most substantial year-on-year rate. Meanwhile, capacity increased by 159.2% , and load factor increased by 35.9% points to 79.2%.

At the same time, last November’s traffic also increased by 45.3% compared to November 2021, while capacity increased by 25.1%, and the load factor increased by 11.6% points to 83.6%.

During November of last year, Middle East Airlines also saw an increase in traffic of 84.6% compared to the same month in 2021. Also, the capacity of November increased by 45.4% compared to the period a year ago, and the load factor increased by 16.5% points to 77.7%.

In November of last year, the carriers of America also experienced an increase in traffic by 69.9% compared to the same period in 2021. As a result, there was also an increase in capacity by 45.5% and the load factor by 11.6% points to 81.0%.

It was also reported that in November 2022, traffic of Latin American airlines saw an increase of 59.2% compared to the same month in 2021. Thus, the capacity of November increased by 55.6%, and the load factor increased by 1.9% points to 82.9%

Moreover, IATA revealed that during November 2022, African airlines had an 83.5% increase in November RPKs compared to a year ago. At the same time, the November 2022 capacity also increased by 48.4%, and the load factor increased by 14.2% points to 74.3%, the lowest among the regions.
